A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.
These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.
Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.
The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
