Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Season-Opening Trophy in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening trophy on 14 different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
