19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Success also means he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour title, took control to force a third set.

The opponent saved 4 initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
